RxClass Updates

The RxClass web application was updated on October 4, 2015. The new features are described below.

Addition of VA classes

The VA classes from NDF-RT have been added to the Class Browser.

Also note that the source of the drug associations is listed (example:[from DailyMed]) for each class type where more than one source is possible.

Editing of Drug Sources

RxClass now allows users to associate different drug sources to each class type via the "Edit Drug Sources" button. The default drug source association for each class type is shown below.

Ingredient only display

An ingredient only display check box allows for display of drug member tables in two different formats. When the "ingredient drug only" box is checked, only the RxNorm information for ingredients and multiple ingredients are displayed in the tables.

When the box is not checked, the additional fields for the source name and identifiers are added.

For members of the VA classes, this display will show the RxNorm drug products (SCD,SBD,BPCK,GPCK) when the box is not checked.

Drug name and id search by brand

RxClass was changed to allow brand name or id searches. When the user types in a brand name, RxClass will find the corresponding ingredient(s) and display those classes associated with the ingredient(s). The autosuggestion list now also contains brand names.

The spelling suggestions for drug names now also includes brand names.
