Expertise and Research Interests:

In December 2023, Jim Mork was appointed Acting Director of the Lister Hill National Center for Biomedical Communications. He previously served as the Acting Branch Chief of the Applied Clinical Informatics Branch. During Mr. Mork’s career with NLM, he served as the Acting Chief of the Applied Clinical Informatics Branch in LHNCBC, managing strategic direction for the branch and leading development efforts to include the NLM Medical Text Index. He has been instrumental in launching key initiatives at NLM, such as the Center for Clinical Observational Investigations (CCOI) and the FISMA-moderate Environment for Health-Related Data about Individuals (FEHRDI). 

Mr. Mork has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Central Michigan University and a Master of Science in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University. 

His area of expertise is on biomedical research and production, product assessment, data science, and natural language processing, as well as expertise in spurring innovation, building relationships, and change management.
