Michael J. Gill received a BS from the University of Maryland College Park in electrical engineering. As a senior electronics engineer in the Communications Engineering Branch of the Lister Hill National Center for Biomedical Communications, a research and development division of the National Library of Medicine, his current work centers on project team leadership for the Craniofacial Image Analysis Research (CIAR) project working in partnership with NIDCR/CARS on the application of machine learning applied to craniofacial CBCT images for dysmorphic conditions detection. He also interfaces to the U.S. national research and education networking community through representation of the NIH in the Joint Engineering Team (JET) and the Large Scale Networking (LSN) coordination group both of which are interagency technical working groups related to implementing advanced Internet infrastructures.
Mr. Gill’s previous experience at MCI Telecommunications was in the design, development and operations of voice and data telecommunications systems.
He has spoken and participated in panels at the Internet2 Joint Techs and Members Meetings and coordinated and carried out numerous advanced technology demonstrations in cooperation with the advanced networking community.
He has served as a proposal reviewer for the National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, and National Center for Health Statistics. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE.
