Larry A. Nathanson, M.D., is Director of Emergency Medicine Informatics at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) and Assistant Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School. He is a practicing emergency physician and an NLM-fellowship trained medical informaticist. Following the devastating earthquake, he deployed to a field hospital in Haiti to assist in the relief efforts. While there he designed and implemented a multilingual smartphone application that provided centralized patient tracking, public health monitoring, as well as x-ray and image display. Dr. Nathanson will present this software as well as discuss his experiences serving in such a challenging and resource-constrained environment.
