Expertise and Research Interests: 

Michael J. Gill received a BS from the University of Maryland College Park in electrical engineering.  As a senior electronics engineer in the Communications Engineering Branch of the Lister Hill National Center for Biomedical Communications, a research and development division of the National Library of Medicine, he supports and carries out R&D programs in image processing, family reunification and disaster information response technologies, and advanced network infrastructure development.  He interfaces to the U.S. national research and education networking community through participation in the Joint Engineering Team which reports to the Large Scale Networking Coordination Group.

Mr. Gill’s previous experience at MCI Telecommunications was in the design, development and operations of voice and data telecommunications systems.

He has spoken and participated in panels at the Internet2 Joint Techs and Members Meetings and coordinated and carried out numerous advanced technology demonstrations in cooperation with the advanced networking community.

Professional Activities: 

He has served as a proposal reviewer for the National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, and National Center for Health Statistics.  He is a Senior Member of the IEEE.
