Expertise and Research Interests: 

Jie Zou received the BE and ME from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China, and PhD from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York, all in electrical and computer engineering. At the Communications Engineering Branch of The Lister Hill National Center for Biomedical Communications, he conducts research on information retrieval from online HTML medical journal articles, text categorization, and natural language processing. His research interest is in the areas of statistical pattern recognition, machine learning, data mining, information retrieval, image processing and computer vision.

Professional Activities: 

Dr. Zou has published over 20 articles on various technical journals and conference proceedings, in the fields of document processing, machine learning, image processing and computer vision. . He serves as a reviewer for several journals, including Pattern Recognition Letters, International Journal on Document Analysis and Recognition, IEEE Trans on Image Processing, IEEE Trans on Information Forensics and Security, IEEE Multimedia, IEEE Trans on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, Computer Vision and Image Understanding, Journal of Network and Computer Applications, etc. and serves as a committee member for several conferences. He currently serves as an associate editor for Pattern Recognition Letters. Dr. Zou is a member of the IEEE and the IEEE Computer Society.

Honors and Awards: 

Dr. Jie Zou received 2012 NLM Special Act/Service awards for his contributions to Publisher Data Review System.
