Biography:
Xiaocheng Luan has been working on NLM projects since 1998.
In the HSTAT project, Mr. Luan developed an agent-based framework that supported the extension of the HSTAT system in a flexible and maintainable way. His current focus is the redesign of the NLM Gateway user interface to improve the usability.
Mr. Luan received his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
in 1991 from the University of Science and Technology of China. After four years of employment with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, he came to the US and received his Master's Degree in Computer Science from the University of Maryland Baltimore County in 1998.
He will be formally awarded his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the
University of Maryland, Baltimore, in December, 2004.
Mr. Luan's major areas of research interests are the Semantic Web Technology and the Software Agent Technology. His favorite sports is badminton but he has not played for more than five years.
