Abstract:
Efforts investigating videoconferencing and collaboration technologies within the Lister Hill Center are described in this report. It begins with a general overview of the videoconferencing and collaboration technology that we employ at the Lister Hill Center and the Collaboratory setting in which it is used. Research related to the use of videoconferencing and collaboration technology in telemedicine and distance learning is reviewed and the concept of presence is discussed to provide a context for work being done at Lister Hill. Specific videoconferencing and collaboration tools currently utilized in the Collaboratory are described; observations and findings are presented.
